Inan Oener

Tokyo based poet, filmmaker, art curator and translator Inan Oener was born in Berlin in 1974. He gained a first class degree in Japanese Language and Literature at Ankara University Faculty of Letters in 1994. After graduating he moved to Japan in 1996 to further his studies on Japanese literature. He was awarded Monbusho Scholarship to do a Masters Degree at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Department of Language and Information Sciences. Since he received his MA in Japanese text analysis, he has been actively translating modern poetry for Mi’Te from his native Turkish to Japanese, and also for Turkish poetry periodicals Japanese to Turkish. He is the director of award winning 'History after Fire' (2005, 9 min 59 sec, 16 mm, B&W, JP).
